Instructions
  1. Break apart bones as needed to fill instant pot as tightly as possible. You want the pot to be about half-full of bones. My turkey carcass was from a 12lb turkey and was done in a 6qt Instant Pot.
  2. Add in the onion, carrots, and spices.
  3. Add in water until to the 2/3 full line. The exact amount of water will depend on how many bones there are. Just make sure it’s filled to the line. Don’t overfill or you risk teh Instant Pot sputtering the broth out during the pressure cycle.
  4. Set Instant Pot to Manual High Pressure for 35minutes
  5. Once the cycle is done, quick release the Instant Pot
  6. Strain out the bones, veggies, and carcass using a fine mesh strainer. See notes for storage ideas. All done!
  7. Optional: to make a second batch, simply follow the same instructions as above except set the pressure cycle time to 1 hr instead of 35mins. Rumor has it you might even be able to get a third batch, but I don’t want to make any promises.
Recipe Notes

The same recipe would work for other types of poultry such as duck or chicken. Spices such as sage or marjoram could add in an interesting flavor too. Please let me know if you try any other meats/spices/veggies using this method! This broth can be used to substitute any regular “broth” in dishes or soups and also tastes fantastic by itself. It’s perfect for your January Whole30 and warming up in those cold winter months 🙂

Store in large mason jars like {these}, or portion out in a silicone muffin tin {link!}.
