Ingredients
  • 12 datespitted or whole (I used whole)
  • 5pieces baconWhole 30 compliant. FYI I have to be honest, mine was the “low quality” kind but since this is meant to be an appetizer and not the main protein, I’m cool with it
  • cayenne pepper
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400F
  2. If you have whole dates like I did, remove the pits carefully.
  3. Put the pitted dates on a plate and liberally coat in cayenne pepper
  4. Cut bacon slices in half
  5. Wrap 1/2 piece of bacon around a date and lay onto a foiled baking skeet with the folded edge down (so it doesn’t “unravel” while cooking)
  6. Repeat until all dates are complete. Do not allow dates to touch or they will not get crisp.
  7. Bake in the oven for 16-18minutes. The time varies based on the oven and how crispy you like your bacon. My oven had these done in 18minutes.
  8. Enjoy, and yes go ahead and lick your fingers.
Recipe Notes

It’s very easy to adjust this recipe for however many guests you have. You simply need two dates per slice of bacon. Also, instead of cayenne pepper, you could try any spice for a flavor burst. I’ve got paprika, cumin, and chili powder on my “must try” list. For other recipes, click here.
