Before worrying about budgeting and our debt snowball, I would’ve probably called this article “Worth the Splurge.” While that is similar, I now believe that these items should be saved for, or requested as a gift. These can’t be impulse buys. I’ve been there, done that, and half the time it’s a mistake. So now, here are the items that I think are makeup worth saving for!
- Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation – It’s $36, but it is the only foundation that hasn’t broken me out like crazy. I love the finish, and it holds up well.
- Tarte Clean Slate Poreless Primer – Since the foundation worked well, I decided to pick up the primer. It really does help the foundation last and look even better. Again, it also doesn’t break me out! $31
- Urban Decay Naked Palette – this is a cult favorite for a reason. I purchased it in 2011 when it cost $48, but it now retails for $54. This was the ONLY eyeshadow I used in college (literally) and I always got compliments. IF you already have eyeshadows that work well, then I’d suggest to use those up. But this palette really is great!
- Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM Eye Cream – I noticed a difference in my dark circles in only about three uses. It’s $55, and I use a TINY amount every other night, so I’m pretty sure this will last forever.
The budgeter in me cringes at the price tags, but I can say that I’ll use up every bit of those and love every bit of them too. I probably will repurchase the primer and foundation, but probaby not the eyeshadow palette or eye cream. There are a lot of great other products out there that I’m curious about eventually. I also think that drugstore makeup/skincare has improved exponentially, so I’m trying to work with what I’ve got! This is obviously just my opinion. Which items do you consider makeup worth saving for? Or why don’t you save up for makeup?
